DESCRIPTION:
Thabametsi Farm meaning ‘Mountain Water’ is a tranquil, rustic self-catering getaway in the heart of scenic Magaliesburg. Situated on a 132Ha farm, Thabametsi is nestled between two koppies overlooking the valley to the Witwatersrand Mountains. This malaria-free location assures guests of beautiful sunsets and great hospitality. It is not far from the Cradle of Humankind or Sun City. There are many activities in the area to satisfy all interests.
The diverse ecosystem encourages a wide range of bird life, particularly on the dam. Smaller animals like bush buck, scrub hares, mongoose, squirrels, porcupines, jackal and civets have made Thabametsi their home, even the frogs participate with their evening chorus.
Accommodation
The accommodation available consists of two six sleeper bungalows (TGCSA 2 star rating and AA Recommended) consisting of three double rooms each plus a living room / kitchen. The master bedroom is en-suite.
Lavender cottage (TGCSA 2 star rating, AA Recommended)
Caters for two adults and two children under 12 years. It has a verandah with a lovely view over the valley, a bathroom (shower only) and a fully equipped kitchen and a place to sit around an open fire. Children love the freedom of the farm.
Owl cottage (TGCSA 3 star rating, AA Recommended)
Caters for two and has a kitchen/living room. The spacious double room is en suite and the private boma area looks out onto bushveld.
Sunset Rondavel
For those who are a little more adventurous; a comfortable rondavel with a toilet and basin, two 3/4 beds and a TV. The shower, another toilet and a kitchen - fully equipped - are outside. The kitchen area is enclosed with bamboo sheeting and a table is set with candles for a romantic setting. There is also a portable braai which can be used just outside the rondavel where you can sit and watch the beautiful sunsets whilst having your sundowners.
Thabamesti Farm offers family orientated accommodation therefore children are welcome. Ducks, chickens and turkeys and even a pot-bellied pig, give the children a sense of real farm life. A jungle gym and pony rides as well as a children’s pool are also available.
Indoor fireplaces and heaters cater for cosy winter nights whilst summer evenings are braai-time in the lovely bomas under the stars. There is also under cover parking.

We provide toilet paper, bedding, towels (not swimming), crockery and cutlery, cooking utensils, toaster and kettle, a fridge and stove for your use, as well as cots and a high chair. Please bring your own fishing rods and swimming towels.
Activities
Activities include cycling, canoeing, fishing, swimming, bird-watching, various ball games and nature walks.
Thabametsi is an ideal venue for families, photographers, artists, environmentalists and small tour groups. |
